Aston Villa are today being linked with a move, once again for Spurs striker Jermain Defoe.

The former West Ham man needs regular first team football and it doesn’t look like he’ll be getting that at White Hart Lane next season due to the abundance of striking talent available to Martin Jol.

He recently signed Darren Bent from Charlton for around £16million and already has Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov, who both struck up a good partnership last season.

The press suggest that Martin O’Neill is ready to make an offer of £8million for Defoe as he continues to strengthen his squad, following the signing of Nigel Reo-Coker.

There’s no doubt that Defoe would add that extra dimension to the Villa attack.
